Q What are the basic qualifications for becoming a Bail Bondsman or a Surety Recovery Agent?
A The Applicant must be 21 years of age, have completed High School or have an equivalent G.E.D, and cannot have any felony convictions.
Q If I meet the basic qualifications what must I do to become a Bail Bondsman?
A You must complete an approved Initial Basic Training class of at least 24 hours, successfully pass a written examination, and submit your application and application fee to the Missouri Department of Insurance. In addition you will need to have a General Bail Bond Agent who will sponsor your application and agree to place your license under his.

A You must complete an approved Initial Basic Training class of at least 24 hours, successfully pass a written examination, and submit your application, application fee and a photo copy front and back of a picture ID such as your Missouri Drivers license. Unlike a bail bond license, you will not need a General Bail Bond Agent to sponsor your application and agree to employ you.

A The cost of the Initial Basic Training course is $200.00, the written exam is $41.00, fingerprint and background check $50.25 to $59.00 and the application fee is $150.00.
